Hi, I’m Nicole
Anyone can tell you what to expect when you go to the dentist. It is a little more complicated to try and explain to someone what they can expect when you go to a therapist.
Hi, I am Nicole and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and have been practicing for over 18 years. One of the things I love about being a therapist is helping people understand what to expect so it is a little less ambiguous. I am a conversational style therapist and very much enjoy the volley of conversation in session as well as the privilege of getting to know you and your story. Part of my role as a therapist is to help people learn what it is to feel safe and vulnerable in a protected space. This creates an environment that gives people the confidence to talk about the confusing, emotional, or difficult things. In exchange, I have the privilege of coming alongside you so we can figure out what all that is and what to do with it. I very much value curiosity so when someone decides to schedule an appointment, it is important for me to know what encouraged you to reach out and to make sure we are a good fit for each other. The relationship you have with a therapist is very important and not like any other kind of relationship because of the sensitive nature of things that bring a person in and the growth that occurs.
We all have experiences in our lives and learning about those, your self, your family, your work, and relationships allows me to help you figure out who you are, develop some confidence and understanding about what brought you here to begin with. I appreciate a collaborative relationship and will ask for feedback about our professional relationship and what you experience as a result of the work we do. I also hold the highest regard for your privacy and the integrity of the therapeutic relationship. This helps foster a trusting, professional relationship which is critical to finding the root of what brought you here.
Being vulnerable is not easy and it is necessary. I have the experience and the expertise to offer a safe space to you in addition to my privilege in supporting you through this process.
